The newest Orca Running race!

Well-organized, professional, personable, safe and fun: it’s what makes Orca Running races so well known. Our newest race will be no different! Join us on March 15th for the 3rd annual Run the Green!  The half marathon and 10K are out and backs on the Green River Trail, and along the way you’ll enjoy scenery of the river and golf course.  Flat and fast you won’t want to miss this race. All participants receive a commemorative shirt, medal, free photo downloads, and post race snacks.

Run the Green takes place on land historically inhabited by the following Native American tribes:

race info

The course

The race starts and ends at Three Friends Fishing Hole, located at: 19970 Russell Rd, Kent, WA 98032

The half marathon course is an out and back that follows the Green River. There is a small loop at the halfway mark where participants will turn around.

The 10K course is an out and back using the same course as the half marathon. The turnaround is just past the first aid station at mile 3.1.

Aid Stations are located every 2-3 miles and are stocked with GU gels and Gatorade Electrolytes.

Restrooms are located at the start/finish line and at a couple of locations on the course.

CUPLESS RACING

Orca Running is committed to reducing waste and protecting the environment.  As part of this commitment, we are making all events cupless. The tiny little cups that are used for an instant generate tremendous amounts of garbage. We recommend you purchase a handheld bottle, a hydration pack, or we can provide you with a small re-useable cup that folds easily into your waistband to use during the entire race and future races.

Awards

Overall awards will be given to the top 3 male, female, and non-binary runners based off of gun time not chip time.  So, you should start in the front of the pack.  We also give out age group awards in 5 year increments, so be sure to check your results at the Orca Running tent.  We DO NOT MAIL OUT AWARDS after the race, they must be picked up at the race.

PARKING

Carpool! We really encourage you to carpool.  Parking is located at Columbia Distributing and Surface Art, Inc.

Click here for a handy map that indicates parking in proximity to the start/finish line. The red lines indicate parking areas, the yellow lines indicate walking paths that lead you to the start/finish line.

Charity partner

We are supporting the Kent Food Bank and Emergency Services.  Your donation during registration will go directly to the food bank, and we will send a list of most needed items in the pre-race email that can be brought to the race. We appreciate your generosity.

Lodging

Run the Green is located close to Seatac, where there are literally dozens of hotels to choose from! If you’re looking to stay someplace more fancy, downtown Seattle is only 20 minutes away.

Policies

We have a clear set of policies that we uniformly follow for all races. Entries are not refundable, but you can defer your entry, transfer it to another race, or transfer it to another participant. You can review our full set of policies here.

gear check

We offer a free gear check at the start/finish line at the covered area! In an effort to reduce waste, we will not be providing drop bags, so PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BAG. We will have identification tags for you to use.

  1. Opt to have your race bib mailed to you. This costs $3.50 and can be selected during the registration process.
